Hi Sir, My husband is having a severe pain in stomach for past three days and we took a scan today which says" RT kidney measures 10. 6x3.9cmLT kidney measures 11. 2x5.5cmcalculus measuring 3 mm is noted in the left distal ureter, just proximal to the vesicoureteral junction Left distal ureteric calculus causing mild hydroureteronephrosis. Does this need surgery or can it be cured with medicine? Please suggest.

Hi lybrate-user, 3 mm sized renal stones doesn?t require surgery it can be managed through medications, before starting medical management please go for urine microscopy based on that report we can suggest antibiotic if any signs of infection present. Take 5 liters of water daily and cranberry juice to avoid urinary tract infections. Tests required Urine microscopy Fbs/ppbs Serum creatinine Start Tab. TRAM-p twice a day for 5 days. After urine microscopy let me know I will guide you.
