Hello, I am 25 years old female. I have been put on MDR TB treatment since 8 months and a medicine called PAS has caused hypothyroidism. Current TSH level is 36.5. Due to drug induced hypothyroidism I have been put on thyronorm 50 mcg daily. I have started taking thyronorm since 20th may 2018 and soon one month after I have observed that my hair has become brittle and also there is tremendous hair loss. Can you please let me know if thyronorm causes hair loss?

lybrate-user ji, Thanks for the query. TSH 36.5 mU/L is too high, suggestive of uncontrolled hypothyroidism. The hair becoming brittle and hair loss are symptoms of uncontrolled hypothyroidism. Once TSH is brought down to 3 - 4 mU/L, most of the symptoms will be in check. Thanks.
