I am 73 years old I am having diabetic and asthma for several years. The diabetic doctor suggested two vaccinations as follows,-- 1) VAXIGRIP O.S DEEP S/C DELHOLD--YEARLY ONCE 2) PAEUMONAE--ONCE ONLY. I REQUEST THE FOLLOW CLARIFICATION. 1 (WHAT PURPOSE THESE VACCINATION WILL FULFIL- 2) WHAT ITS COST AND WHERE IT CAN BEPURCHASED.

Hello, Thanks for the query. In persons with diabetes body's immune system becomes comparatively weak, so certain infections can attack more frequently and can cause a severe disease. So certain vaccines are recommended. Pneumonia vaccine is advised in all persons above 60 to 65 years and more so in a diabetic person. It protects against pneumococcal lung infection. The other vaccine is for protection against a a variety of viral infections like H1N1 (Swine flu), influenza. These are available with chemists having good counters. Thanks.
