Dear lybrate-user, White layers in the throat may be anything from simple pharyngitis to cancer. It is NOT due to stopping of smoking. It may be due to many cigarettes that you have smoked all these days. Take salt water goggle and if the white layers don't disappear, consult a doctor - preferably an ENT who has mirrors to see inside your throat.
