Hello, Congratulations to your friend. First of all, need more details about her condition to asses the risk of miscarriage and other complications due to high thyroid probably Hyperthyroidism. Diagnosis of Hyperthyroidism should be confirmed by detailed evaluation by History, Clinical assessment ,TSH, Free T4, Free T3 levels. Due to pregnancy changes, there may be mild hyperthyroidism which usually cause no miscarriages. Subclinical cases also have no high risk. But must rule out severe high thyroid state at first itself. Although untreated hyperthyroidism has potentially serious adverse effects on the mother and fetus, when treated promptly and monitored appropriately, the outcome for mother and fetus can be excellent.
