Greetings Doctors! My wife was diagnosed with Hyperthyroidism two years back. We have been taking allopathy since last 24 months and she has been on. "Neomercazole" tabs. Last visit our doctors suggested to decrease the dosage and slowly withdraw the medicine. But still she has been experiencing few syomtoms. We were referred to Nuclear medicine department and now we were given few glimpses of further treatment which may include Radio Iodine treatment. We are yet to complete the family (kids). We have also tried homeopathy parallel. But in vain. Please suggest what we should do ?

This is little tricky. If you want to opt for radio active iodine treatment, then you need to wait for 6- 12 months post treatment to plan a child. Also, you have to make sure, that preconception TSH of your wife is normal before planning a child. Or else you can opt for surgery to remove Thyroid gland partly or fully as the case may be & replace the Thyroid dose of required & plan your family.
