Sir,I used to smoke when I was 15 old and I stopped that habit after 2 years and know I am 19 and know I have discomfort all over my chest and pain below my sternum and under my shoulder blade. Know I passed entrance exam. And I will get mbbs. I am afraid whether I can pass those medical check up. But I cannot say to this my family. Because if they knew that I had a smoking habit I can't face them. But I should tell them. Before that I need to know whether I have any disease like cancer or something like that. I ain't have money with me. So I need a free cancer detection. If anyone can help me, kindly consult me.

Hi lybrate-user! The best way to clear your doubts is to consult with Pulmonologist or Cardiologist and undergo certain tests as per their advice and rule put any underlying causes. If there is nothing wrong then you need not worry, but if something is wrong before it is too late you can undergo treatment for the same and get cured at the earliest since you have started smoking very recently only so the effects are less.
