Hello doctors. Sir my brother have hiv phobia he has tested till 7th month antibody test and western blot test all reports are normal till 7 month. But still he fears he thinks that hiv can come any day. He harms himself, daily he cries alot. What should we do? Please suggest please.

Given that all the reports are negative, he is HIV negative for sure and this is one thing that he needs to be convinced about. HIV phobia is sometimes more complex to manage than the disease itself and needs to be done very patiently. Instead of spending time, money and energy re-testing so many times, he should actually be seeing an expert now. We will need to sit across him and address each of his concern points one by one. He will need to be counseled well and may need some anti-anxiety medications for a short period. We will be able to help him better once we talk to him and then plan the further line of action over a private consult/chat. But be assured that each of these persons does come back to normal with proper care- so do not worry- he will be fine for sure.
