Hello Doctor, This question is on behalf of my niece who is 17 years old. She has irregular periods since 1 year and takes 45 to days to 2 months for periods to appear. We had consulted Gynic and she suggested to go for Ultrasound scanning for abdomen. Below are the findings as per the scanning. Multiple small follicles seen in both ovaries ----? Poly cystic ovaries ovarian cyst 6.7 *8.5*9.7 Cm approx cyst seen in pelvis advice MRI Pelvis Please let us know your opinion on this. Is surgery mandatory or we can try medication and see?

Surgery is not to be done and Get her blood checked for CBC Tsh Fasting insulin levels and follow up with reports and if insulin levels are high then we can start with metformin tablet after clinical examination.
