My friend's son aged 43 years is addicted to alcohol & smoking. Recently his intake has become regular and more than normal. My friend is highly disturbed. Is there any remedy which can be given to the addicted boy without bringing it in his knowledge so that he is either cured of addiction or at least reduce intake. Kindly suggest.

No. Without patient's motivation to give up the habit of alcohol, it is not possible. Try to motivate him for a de-addiction program in a professional setting. Though there are some medicines like disulfiram that are being given to the addicted people without their knowledge, sooner or later they find the trick and the problem will only aggravate.
