My baby is 8 months old and after a recent visit to the doctor for a routine check-up, he advised to take Uprise D3 (60K) 5 ml and give 1 ml to baby everyday for just 5 days. When I was taking this medicine along with other medicine the chemist informed me that it is of very high power. I am confused a bit because I have been giving calshine-P 0.5 ml (~400IU) to my baby everyday since her birth. Please suggest if I administer the Uprise D3 60K 1 ml (~12K IU) to my baby for 5 days or not and why he could have suggested this?

The doctor suggested vit D3 for only five days only. This will cover up if any deficiency is there. However the regular dose of 400iu dose per day is more than sufficient. You have to be aware. Of condition called Hypervitamlnosis vit D and so continue the normal dose which you have been giving earlier at a dose of 400iu.
