Dear lybrateuser, - Symptoms of dengue include fever, headache especially behind eyeballs, muscle & joint pain, tiredness, sometimes stomachache, vomiting, skin rash, in severe cases bleeding from internal organs - it can be prevented by maintaining proper hygiene & sanitation in & around the house & preventing mosquito bite - avoid accumulation of water in drains, flower pots, old tanks & containers as it is the breeding place for the mosquito, do mosquito proofing of the house by using mesh or use mosquito net while sleeping, apply mosquito repellent cream on exposed parts, fumigate the surrounding area of the house & drains - treatment is by bed rest, plenty of oral fluids, tab Paracetamol for fever, if hematocrit & platelet count becomes low then hospitalisation is required.
