On physical examination a cancerous lump appears hard, irregular, fixed or restricted movement and increases in size over few weeks to months. A non cancerous lump is usually well demarcated soft, smooth, and mobile. But again there may be interchangeability between the features of both. Hence, the diagnosis is usually confirmed by imaging and /or Biopsy or FNAC. Better to show any lump to an Oncosurgeon than diagnosing yourself whether it’s cancer or not. As these can spread over a few weeks to months and change prognosis of the disease. Site wise differences are beyond the scope of answering on this platform.
