My mother (50) got her varicose vein laser surgery in 2012. She wore stocks and followed her doctor. Today she says that her leg is swelling if she don't do walking. She is a teacher by profession. She also says that her buttocks are paining. She goes for yearly checkup but still she is not satisfied with her condition. What could be the actual problem. Could you suggest anything.

Hi lybrate-user swelling of leg is a bad symptom taking into account the surgery she went through. Although there could be many causes to it. Its always better to be safe than sorry. The swelling could be due to DVT. Or deep vein thrombosis. This should be ruled out. So go back to yur surgeon get a usg. Color doppler. Done. Do not panic. Follow your doctors advice.
