I am 17 years old. I want to gain weight and lean muscle mass that is why I want to join gym because they offer trainers as well as nutritionists but my parents don't allow me to go for gym, they think it will stop my growth. Is it the case? Does going to gym at this age really stops your growth?

Not really. But before going to gym you should start doing free hand body weight exercises at home or in a park, like pushups, squats, pull-ups, crunches etc. For 1 year. When your body gets used to exercising, you can start gym.
