Hi. My toddler is 20 months old. While sleeping she sometimes drools. Has never done it before. She has 20 teeth now. So I am wondering what can be the problem. No fever no fatigue. Eating fine playing fine. Talking fine. All her normal activities are the same. No behavioral changes. Please help. Is it normal or something I need to be concerned about.

You should talk with your doctor and check to see if it is a mounth tone issue or just normal teething. There are times when a child does not have the muscle control to hold their mouth closed; sometimes it is an issues that needs to be addressed by an ENT. Your freind should be concerned about her little one, by the age of six they typically have the ability to keep their saliva in their mouth and if they are not it maybe be an indcation of something bigger going on. Seek professional medical advice and if your baby is still having the drooling issue at 20-24 when he/she is not teething call your local Early Intervention Dept. (they are in every state) and have them send you to a Speech or Occupational Therapist to look at oral/motor functios. The earlier you address any developmental concern the better for your child.
