Hi I am a 25 year old female .i got married in april 2017. My husband was using condom for sex. But from 1st january 2018 we started planning for baby and had sex without protection. I missed my periods in the month of january. I consulted gynaecologist she did 2 pregnancy test one on 10 th day of my missed period and other on 20 th day of my missed period. Both the test were negative. So she prescribed susten 200 mg tablets for 5 days. After the completion of the course on 23rd february I had period but it was just a spotting .one pad was also not completed I waited for 2 -3 days but no bleeding. And again on 20th march again I had spotting for one day. Please doctor let me know what is this. Is it a period or I am I suffering from any other problem. One most important thing my periods were regular till we started unprotected sex. Please doctor help me out with this problem.

Hi lybrate-user Firstly, you are not having any major problem, so do not worry about that. Next, when you are eager and anxious to get pregnant, your periods can be delayed. After 2 negative tests, Im sure you are not pregnant, but to be safe the doctor has prescribed baby safe hormone tablets. That could be the reason for the scanty bleed. If it is a month now, and menstruation hasn't started, please repeat a pregnancy test, at home, and if still negative, you can meet doctor for medicines to get periods. And please take Folic acid which is a vitamin and necessary for women planning a baby.
