Avoid contact for at least 3 months and later on also use contraceptive. At least 3 years gap should be there.

10/12 weeks is ideal and helpful for the mother. The ideal interval between two children is 3/4 years hence preg can be attempted after 2/2.5 years after the date of delivery.
