My son was alcoholic, left consuming one month back, he is on anti-alcoholic drugs as advised by doctor, now he is unable to walk, both his legs are paining badly, doctor said due to access consumption, it will take time to heal, son is 27 yrs. Old, please help.

Your son is probably suffering from alcoholic neuropathy, a condition where the peripheral nerves and nerve roots in the spinal cord are affected due to chronic alcohol consumption. This can be effectively treated with physiotherapy and diet modifications. Physiotherapy: Intermittent pelvic traction (weight 10-12 kgs, duration :15 minutes), INTERFERENTIAL THERAPY for painful areas in both legs (15 minutes, continue this treatment for 10 days. HYDROTHERAPY you have to fill little water (ordinary cold water) in this tub (1-1.5 inches) so that the back of the neck and lower back is in contact with the water. The patient has to remain in the bath tub for 15 minutes. Do this twice a day. This will relieve the symptoms and would give relaxation. You need to do strict permanent alterations in your son's diet pattern for complete recovery. AVOID THE FOLLOWING ITEMS: 1.coffee,tea 2.branded health drinks 3. White sugar and products made of white sugar like sweets, cakes, ice creams, bread, bun and all other bakery items 4. Maida products like samosa, puffs, parotta, naan etc 5.high carbohydrate food like potatoes, white rice 6, dairy products (packet milk, curd) 7.noodles,vermicelli, pasta, pizza. 8.NON VEGETARIAN FOOD INCLUDING EGGS INCLUDE HIGHLY ALKALINE FOOD .(LIST GIVEN BELOW) 1.wheat grass juice, to be taken everyday in empty stomach in the morning. Any other food should be taken after an interval of half an hour. 2.vegetable soup (carrot, beetrot, beans, turnip, coriander, curry leaves, mint leaves) 5.spinach soup 6. Ashgourd juice (white pumpkin) 7.Banana pith (stem) juice. 8.Hand pounded unpolished rice 9.bilva juice in the morning 10. Groundnut, almonds, pista, walnut, pomogranate, figs, dates. SUN BATH with loose fitting cotton clothes for five minutes between 7-7: 30 am in morning.Â
