Hi I am 2-3 weeks pregnant. My doctor advised me to take vitamins/zinc and folic acid tablets. Also, my thyroid is 5.8 so she advised me to take thyroid tablet as well. Now my question is my blood group is O- and my husband's O+ but I am not taking any Medicine as of now. Is that fine? Also, what more precautions I need to take. My doctor asked me to wait for one more week and then go for blood test and ultrasound.

Hi Yes, Folic acid is important for skull and brain development of the baby. And increase in thyroid dose needed to bring TSH down to around 1. Now, regarding the Blood group imcompatibility, you will need an immediate antibody screen, to rule out the possibility of any antibodies you may have developed. If negative, then repeat at 28 weeks. If positive, the titre will be checked and the ultrasound monitoring of baby needs to be done. Am attaching an information leaflet. Please read through, and check with me for further doubts.
