This is probably a case of cva. It can either be due to hypertension or atherosclerosis of brain vessels. If it is due to intracranial haemorrhage then a surgical approach is of utmost importance. If not haemorrhagic then medical treatment will be enough. I dont know what the present medications of your father are so I cant say if its proper. I can however say that patients with cva do survive though not 100% fit. Lifelong control measures need to be taken to prevent further attacks. Antihypertensives, antihyperlipidemics and neuroprotectives are the main modality of treatment for non haemorrhagic causes. Believe and have faith in your doctor. Take care.
