Very nice question and valid point raised by you. The scenario you described is what usually happens when a diabetic person undertakes anaerobic exercise. Playing badminton is a very good example of anaerobic exercise which means fast and vigorous activity and same thing goes with other sports like weight lifting, short sprint, jumping etc. When you do take such exercise, there is increased production of counter regulatory hormones to insulin, such as glucagon to provide body with necessary energy needed for the high intensity exercise. These hormones stimulates the release of glucose from the liver and hence increased sugar levels after playing badminton, On the contrary, try and undertake low intensity exercise or aerobic exercise, such as walking and jogging. Here I am sure there will be reduction of sugar level and as such it is always advised to the diabetes patients to perform low intensity exercise. Thanks.
