I am 38/male with type 2 diabetes. My sugar was at 250 after meals even when taking 500 mg metformin after each meal (total 1000 mg a day). Doctor has increased the dose to 1000 mg after each meal now. Sugar level have come down to 125 after meals. I want to ask if 2000 mg a day of metformin along with diet control and exercise can lower the sugar level too much i.e. Even below the normal level?

Since many factors are involved like diet, exercise and the individual persons body, it needs continuous (regular) monitoring by the doctor along with the investigations. The good thing would be to control the sugar with a disciplined and healhty lifestyle along with medicines as suggested by the doctor. The dosage of the medicine or the type of medicine can be changed by the doctor depending on the overall health condition and the reports. So keep going for the follow up and follow all the good habits with determination and enjoy good health. You can also learn Yoga which is very effective to balance all the aspects of health and keep you fit and energetic.
