The skin around the nail to some fingers of my dear friend sometime gets itchy, painful and swelled. Sometime the skin around her nail gets rooted out when she scratches up. As a result the tips of her nail have become uneven. Can anybody kindly help me to cure the disease. So far my knowledge goes the disease has stricken her due to the pollution of water or due to the use of detergent. But I am not sure of it. Please help.

Hello Pratiksha It could be possible that your friends skin is allergic to detergent or the strong chemicals in it or it could be that she has an infection fungal in nature in her nails which gets worse when her hands stay wet for long like in washing vessels or clothes. In both cases she needs to avoid harsh chemicals, if possible not wash clothes/vessels OR use gloves for the same. Also ask her to moisturise her hands regularly with plain petroleum jelly at night and coconut oil during the day. Avoid strong scented soaps or creams/ moisturisers in daily use also for bathing etc. Apart from these precautions she might also need medical help if the condition doesnt settle down and i would suggest homoepathic treatment for long term relief.
