Hello Dr, I have been suffering from hyperthyroidism from past 5 months n my medication, neo mercazole 40 mg a day, 15 after breakfast, 10 after lunch and 15 after dinner is going on as there is no problem meanwhile but I have gained some weight, less depression, still I have panic attacks sometimes and trouble sleeping since last few days. I have gone for ultrasound scan. My Free T4 levels are fine, it has gone from 3.9 to 3.09 to 1.77 to 1.2 over the last 5 months, but the TSH levels varied only from 0.005 to 0.05, but then decreased again to 0.008, 0.270 is the minimum required, TSH. Is surgery the right option right now? Free T4 is finish, as in thyroid stimulating hormone, it commands the thyroid glands to produce the right amount of thyroxine, but a nodule is blocking its message, but using the medications over 5 months, the free T4 levels have been stabilised, even without the signal from TSH, but I can't do this all my life right, so is surgery the only option?
