Hello, I am an anxious person in general I don't want to use drugs which are habit forming and give withdrawal syndrome, l am also a hypertensive and diabetic person I am 45 Year old, in this case Beta blockers like propranolol, Atenolol or metoprolol is preferred by me which one you recommend, my ankles get swell as I am not a very active person, I sit long hours. Please suggest best medicine suitable Thanks for your kind advice.

I agree with you that medicines for anxiety are habit forming and should be avoided. reduce your weight by eating more of seasonal vegetables and fruits and reduce intake of salt and take more potassium through citrus fruits like oranges and lemon juice and water reduce stress and anxiety related issues with the help of yoga and meditation. walk around a bit but do more of arms stretching. regarding betablockers, they're safe. propranolol does cause breathlessness in people prone to asthma. metoprolol and atenolol are equally safe. Monitor the dose and take medicines regularly even after bp has stabilized
