Hello Dr, I am 31 weeks pregnant now yest I was diagnosed with dilatation of right ureter during my pregnancy ultra sound scan please advise what can be done for this and what is further treatment I don't want to go for stent placement as it will cause more pain please advise can it be cute on its own this is my 3 pregnancy and I never had this problem before currently I am on 6 days antibiotic course and have to repeat the scan.

Dilatation of ureter may associated in pregnancy. It may be asymptomatic. These could be because of stone or ascending infection. So the only way is to treat infection and do follow up scan and see whats happening to the ureter. If it goes on increasing then it necessitates to use a stent. Otherwise it may compromise the functioning of that side kidney.
