Hello, Dr. I have ice pick scars on my face. I used to have ice picks scars only on my face but now its spreading all over my face like on nose, chin and forehead. One of the Dr. Has suggested me to take IPL treatment and fractional laser treatment for ice pick scars. When I have searched in google what is fractional laser treatment? They have answered do not go respond to fractionated laser but go for TCA chemical peeling. If I take fractional laser or needling or laser treatment or TCA chemical peeling will they have any side effects? On face after the treatment or while treatment process is going on? While taking those treatment skin will become in red color and it will stay for ever or only at the time of treatment? Do we have 100% improvement if I go with any of the above mentioned treatments? Please help me to get rid of icepick scars and suggest me the best treatment. What kind of food I have to take? Please suggest me thank you.

Hello, There are various treatments for acne scars which include creams, chemical peels, microdermaabrasion, microneedling, radiofrequency, surgery, fat fill, laser etc. TCA peels do help with ice pick scars, CO2 laser though is a good option it cannot be used in all skin type due to risk of hyperpigmentation. The redness following the laser may last upto 3 months and usually subside. Microneedling Radiofrequency therapy is a good option for collagen induction. What you need to understand is no therapy is perfect a combination of treatment give satisfactory results. Tretinoin creams in long term are also good option to improve the scars but needs to be stopped prior to any procedure. A photograph would help assess you better. Consult a dermatologist.
