Does kesar (saffron) lower blood sugar level in type 2 diabetes. I have been taking saffron for while now and notice that I am frequently having low blood sugar level. I am type 2 diabetes and on insulin for last three years. Reason why I went on insulin is that I had kidney transplant 3.5 years back and I am taking steroid continuously for last 3.5 years. Till now my sugar was never in control.

lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. Main reason for your blood glucose not being control appears to be the steroids that you are taking. As steroids are known a diabetogenic. Secondly whether safron reduces glucose or not is not well known. You wil have to carefully adjust insulin dosage as well as food intake for maintaining expected blood glucose levels. Thanks.
