I had my last wisdom tooth removed a month back. Right now it's still healing .my question is a week back I had my gum swollen between my upper left canine and premolar. Now this night I brushed my tooth and all of a sudden it started bleeding from my lower gum between lower right canine and premolar. But stopped after a few seconds. I use the same brush like every other day but never experienced any thing like this. I bled a lot. Quite worried. Is it gingivitis? And what is the treatment? Can I start using listerine mouth wash.

It can be gingivitis/inflamed gums or may be tooth brush trauma. Visit again to the dentist for proper evaluation. Mouthwash you can use but it will not be that effective if you have gingivitis. It requires scaling and polishing to prevent and cure it. Â

U r not doing brushing twice daily. U can go for professional cleaning of that area.Â

Hello Lybrate user, yes you are right bleeding gums is the most common sign of ginigivitis. The usual protocol to treat gingivitis is ultrasonic scaling and polishing which is actually cleaning of teeth surface with an ultrasonic instrument followed by an antibacterial mouthwash. Instead of mouthwash I will suggest any mouthwash containing 2% cholhexidine. Hope this helps.Â
