I am 35 years old. I am having regular thyronorm 25 mcg as my TSH is 6.680. My thyroid is not yet become normal to the level. Please help as I am unable to loose weight. My weight is 80 kg. I am gaining from the past 2 months has not lost 100gm even. Please help I am stressed.

Mr. lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. Since you are on treatment for hypothyroidism with thyroxine, it is necessary to maintain TSH between 3 to 4 mU/L, to be free from all the symptoms of hypothyroidism. Similarly to reduce weight you will have to bring down the TSH around 3mU/L, plus exercise daily for over 1 hour, take restricted diet. Avoid sweets, deep fried foods, junk foods, pastries, bakery items and foods made from maida. Refrain from smoking and alcohol. Also avoid soy beans and soy containing foods. Thanks.
