I had unprotected sex with my wife about an hour ago. I do not want a baby as we got married just 10 days back. Her periods are scheduled to arrive after 6 or 7 days from today. Can you please answer my worries - What are the chances of her getting pregnant? - Is there any side effect of the emergency contraceptive pills? Your quick turnaround is highly appreciated and I will be thankful.

If your wife's periods are due in 6-7 days, chances of her getting pregnant are very less. Emergency contraception is an option to avoid accidental conception, but its not 100% guaranteed, moreover, the chances of menstrual abnormalities increase following emergency pills. So choose wisely. Don't make emergency pills a habit. Use a regular method of contraception to avoid accidents like this.
