I have a morbidly obese body. I started gaining but my instructor started me by giving me light weight exercises. The gym does not have a treadmill or a cycle. So I have been training for a week. I feel good. But many of my friends advice me to rather do cardio exercises like jogging. I am a bit confused.

Light weight exercise is fine, but before that you should do 15 mins of free hand cardios like jumping, skipping, fast stairs climbing etc.
