Hi let me tell you wax is a normal phenomenon. It occurs in every ear. The ear itself has a mechanism where by the debris from skin and the wax are pushed out through the canal to outside in a gradual fashion. However in some persons, wax production is higher and the removal doesn't keep up pace with production, that it accumulates. Accumulated wax can get impacted and cause ear ache, headache, ear block an decreased hearing. Once the wax is removed the hearing miraculously improves and the earache vanishes. However before I suggest you measures, I need to be sure it is wax. Because the measures for wax and other conditions mimicking wax inside ear are way different and cannot be substituted. Hence the need to consult an ent surgeon who will put his otoscope into the canal and see whether it is indeed wax. Wax removal: if the wax is soft enough we use a small probe to remove it in toto. However if it's very hard we instill wax drops. These drops must be put daily five to six times for a week and each time it has to be about 4 to 5 drops. This will soften the wax before the next visit to doctor and the doctor can easily remove it. Hope your query is answered. Feel free to consult with us.
