I am suffering from Thyroid related issues and taking Thyronorm 50 mg. My Dr. suggested USS thyroid and found focal small benign thyroid cystic lesion at isthmus. How can I rectify this and please suggest any treatment. Is this a serious problem?

Mr. lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. Since you have hypothyroidism, that treatment with thyroxine 50 mcg daily has to be continued. As regards the presence of a cystic nodule, it needs to be observed periodically (once in 6 months) to see if there is any increase in size or change inside the cyst. If it is not causing any specific symptoms now, then only observation is needed. Ultrasonography and if needed guided FNAC also should be done for proper diagnosis. Thanks.
