To treat to: Give rest to your knees, place ice packs over knee to reduce inflammation, elevate your limb, compression .Wrap your knee. Use an elastic bandage, patellar straps, or sleeves to give it extra support. Take NSAIDs, like ibuprofen or naproxen. These drugs fight inflammation and help with pain and swelling. Hi. Acute pain in knees while running is not normal. There may be a problem in your knee cap or meniscus or any cartilage in knee joint. This has to be clinically evaluated and appropriately treated. I would also advise you to stop running as it might make the matter more worse until you get your problem evaluated.
