Dear lybrateuser, - To manage your condition follow some lifestyle changes: - dietary, reduce intake of salt( especially items like papads, pickles, namkeens), have more of fruits & vegetables & whole grains, avoid foods containing trans & saturated fats - do regular exercise like walking, jogging, swimming, also do yoga, meditation & deep breathing which reduces stress & keeps mind & body healthy - reduce stress by sleeping for at least 7-8 hrs at night, play a game, listen to music, read a book - reduce weight if you are overweight by diet & exercise - monitor BP, check blood sugar, cholesterol, ECG to rule out any other problem - if BP doesn't reduce by lifestyle changes in 3-4 months then medication may have to be started.
