Hi I am 33 years male having Total cholesterol 241 triglycerides 185 ldl 160 hdl 44 currently started taking rosave 10 daily, 11 years before in 2006 I had taken decca durabolin 5 injection over period of month for weight gain. Is it the side effects of the steroid that I have taken 11 years before that I have high cholesterol now.

Hi Please understand that Cholesterol problem is a lifestyle disease. Steroids do lead to derangement of cholesterol but the effect cannot last for 11 years, it is quite possible they lead to an increase back then which was worsened by your bad eating habits or lack of exercise or smoking or drinking etc. First it is important to bring lifestyle changes and after 6-8 weeks re-check your cholesterol if it is still high you may need low dose medication as well. Even with lifestyle measures 70-80% of people need medications for life for control in cholesterol. So first start lifestyle precautions like - daily 40 mins of exercise like brisk walking, detailed diet consult for a healthy heart diet including high fibre, fruit and vegetables, quit smoking and drinking and if your are obese loose weight and if that does not completely control cholesterol then start with medications. Also, kindly get a baseline BP checked, echo and ecg done.
