I am 31 years old m having thyroid problem it is now 139 n last 4 months back only I got married 4 months back I checked it was 172 nw it is 139 I am taking thyronorm 100 mg tablet pls suggest should I have to take precaution for pregnancy n if yes till when.

lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. TSH 139 mU/L is too high, suggesting totally uncontrolled hypothyroidism. Present dose of 100 mcg thyroxine is totally inadequate. It has to be increased by 50 mcg per day, then check TSH after 6 weeks to see if the level has come down. Ideally TSH should be maintained around 3 to 4 mU/L for being free from all the symptoms. Further if you are considering of pregnancy, then TSH has to be around 2 mU/L. Otherwise ovulation and menstrual cycle will not be proper. Thanks.
