Let her take all kind of food in limited quantity. Direct use of sugar and sugary products should be reduced. Include more vegetables in foods. Eat every day 1-2 raw bitter guard without cooking them directly. Drink water sufficiently. 1-2 km walk is good for health. Let her practice pranayam and yoga. There is no need to worry too much.

Mr. lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. A person with diabetes should take a restricted diet, that provides exact calories based on his/her ideal body weight, extent of daily exercise and control on blood glucose levels. Following are general guidelines: Avoid sweets completely, no sugar or jaggery, avoid deep fried foods, pastries, junk foods, bakery items, foods made form maida and colas. Consume more of green leafy vegetables, salads and permitted fruits. Use unpolished rice, use whole grain flour for roti and chapati. Specific diet plan to a person can only be given if all the details are made available like: fasting, Pp glucose levels, HbA1c%, drugs being taken with dosage, lipid profile, extent of daily exercise, weight and height, present dietary habits. Thanks.
