I am 29 years old Male. I am suffering from RIngworms for the past 2 months. Finally consulted a doctor who has prescribed Fluconazole 150 mg for 1 month (1 tablet daily), De-cal tablets once a day and Candid cream to be applied on the affected portion twice a day. It is showing results after 3 days of application. But I wanted a second opinion from another expert. Is the dosage and duration proper? Should I really continue Fluconazole for 1 month? WIll it have any side-effects? My situation was really severe and the infection had spread all over my body.

Wrong and very high dosage. Moreover fluconazole does not work these days. The treatment for fungal infection is simple. You have to take anti fungal tablets and creams for 4 to 6 weeks following which it resolves. Do not apply soap on that area and do not self treat with over the counter steroid creams. Mistreatment with steroid creams like panderm, fourderm, betnovate, candid b etc and self treatment with cheaper generic medicine is the most common reason for recurrent disease. Another cause of recurrence is cross infection from other infected people in the house. Kindly send photos using online consult option for accurate diagnosis and treatment. If this is fungal infection, it needs to be treated as early as possible as it will spread further on your body and also to other people in the household.
