Hi, chronic constipation is often the lead cause behind ulcerative colitis. You definitely do need to streamline your diet which should mostly comprise of softly cooked or steamed vegetables with less of oil, ghee, spices et al. The more bland the diet is, easily digestible will it be and the better it will be for your health/ recovery. Also, do consume well ripened fruits especially papaya & banana. Buttermilk and coconut water too are immensely valuable in this condition. Take plenty of water daily, and ensure that you get enough of bed rest, avoiding stress/ strain/ anxieties. Also, take care not to strain while passing stools. A light abdominal massage on a regular basis also helps. You may connect with me in private to discuss and come up with a treatment plan that suits you in particular.
