I am 27 year old, recently diagnosed with hypothyroidism 6 months back, currently on 50ug thyronorm for 3 months and now Sep-17 I am 5 weeks pregnant, my TSH value currently is 6.37 and my doctor told to continue with same 50ug only, my doubt is to increase the thyronorm dosage from 50 ug or not as my gynecologist told it's fine usually tsh values will fluctuate and no need to increase dose of 50 ug.

lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. Since you are pregnant it is necessary to maintain TSH in the following manner: 1st trimester :0.1 to 2.5 mU/L, 2nd trimester: 0.2 to 2.5 mU/L & 3rd trimster: 0.3 to 3.0 mU/L. These levels are very critical for proper development of fetus and desired outcome of the pregnancy. Hence you have to increase the dose by at least 12.5 mcg to 25 mcg per day, then check TSH after 4 weeks. If the level is within the recommended range for that period of pregnancy, then continue the same dose. If level is higher than the recommended then there has to be a further increase in dosage of levothyroxine by 12.5 mcg. I hope things are clear. It is wrong to say that TSH levels fluctuate. So please increase the dosage. If you have any doubts please come back. Take care. Thanks.
