Alcohol smell does not have any significant effect on others. However, Cigarette smoking is injurious to both the smoker and the people around him. The smoke in his breath is harmful as it contains small particles which can cause allergic reaction or block airways. Small babies are more prone to harm. So it ks best for your baby that your husband stops smoking or atleast does not come near him after he has just smoked. Not to forget, cigarette smoke contains harmful chemicals called benzopyrenes which are carcinogenic, ie cause cancer. So please advice your husband to quit. There are many ways to help with that too.

Dear lybrate-user, babies should not be exposed to any kind of strong/intense odour/ fragrance. There is no additional harmful effect of alcohol and cigarette smell than others. But offcourse, as suggested by my dear colleague doctors, smoking should be quit as soon as possible. It is harmful for everyone, directly and indirectly. Take care.
