I had done blood test for thyroid on Sep 11 2017 .the results r as below: T3: 139.2 ng/DL T4: 8.64 ugh/DL Ultra TSH: 15.49 IU/ml, Kindly provide some guidance related to my report what medications should I do and is it serious.

lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. TSH 15.49 mU/L is suggestive of hypothyroidism. This needs to be treated with adequate dose of levothyroxine. TSH should be maintained between 3 to 4 mU/L, then only all the symptoms of hypothyroidism are in check. Plus looking at your weight and height it is clear that with a BMI of 28.125 kgs/M2, you are overweight. Your ideal body weight should be 60 kg. Hypothyroidism causes rapid weight gain. So you will have to exercise daily for over 1 hour and also take a restricted diet. You will have to avoid soy beans and soy containing products. Consume more of green leafy vegetables, salads and fruits. Use whole grain flour for making chapati and roti. If you have any doubts please do come back. Thanks.
