Please suggest me something regarding my leg swelling for hypothyroid. My swelling is very extreme. I am really suffering badly. please suggest me something for this Tsh lvl 4-5 thyroxine 50 mg.

lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. When on treatment for hypothyroidism, it is essential to control TSH very well. It should be maintained <3 mU/L for being free from all the symptoms of hypothyroidism including swelling of face and legs & feet. Therefore, it is necessary for you to increase the dosage of thyroxine tablets to 12.5 mcg, then check TSH after 6 weeks. By then if TSH level reaches the desired number, then continue the same if not then dose may have to be increased by another 12.5 mcg and TSH should be checked again after 6 weeks. Thanks.
