I got my root canal today. While cleaning the canals my 1 canal was very calcified amd my doctor could just not go inside after lot of effort he told me that we do not have a solution other than filling this up short. What are the chances of failure in this case. I am really nervous.

There is absolutely nothing to worry. Though calcified canal can be treated with chemical (EDTA) for 30 minutes, sometimes it can be left with whatever length instrumentation is achieved and filled with root canal filling material. The dentist has to be sure before escaping the canal that in future it won't be leaking. Chances of survival for your tooth will be same as perfectly done root canal treatment for any other tooth/ teeth. So again, not to worry. THANK YOU.

Hello Lybrate user, calcified canals are frequently found in our teeth and are difficult to negotiate. A special paste is used for such cases. You do not have to worry about the failure of root canal, in fact your dentist is smart, breaking of instrument is quite common if the calcified canal are negotiated without glutaraldehyde. Hope this helps.
