10-11 months back my stomach started to bloat. Since then a lot of day has increased on my stomach, waist and back. However the fat on rest of my body is reducing quickly which has also causing stretch marks around the lower back region. My belly has increased so much it causes me discomfort when I have to sit for work. There is no pain in stomach but excessive release of gas and burps throughout the day. Light exercise also does not help. It's been causing me depression. Additionally I am not sure if it's bloating or bulging tummy. Kindly assist.

Dear Shikha, I can understand. Excess fat around your belly is never due to acidity or burping or gas build up inside your stomach etc. It is definitely due to deposits of fat in the adipose tissues around your stomach. This could happen mainly due to sedentary eating habits and worry and depression. Exercise and dieting can help you get rid of belly fat. Strength training (exercising with weights) may also help fight abdominal fat. Spot exercising, such as doing sit-ups, can tighten abdominal muscles, but it won't get at visceral fat. Diet is also important. Take care.
