Bad breath is due to accumalation of volatile sulfur compounds. These are produced by anerobic bacteria. VSC- methyl mercaptan and hydrogen sulfide intake of high protein foods or certain foods may increase or worsen it. If your toungue has a white coating. It is the simplest indicator of bad breath. Usually to detect these there is a device called hallimeter. But I am have never heard of any indian dentist using this device as halimeter is not required to investigate and is simply waste of money. You can contact an oral pathologist and if really interested to get it actually detected. Ask them to collect your plaque samples and conduct a BANA test. (benzoyl arginine naphthalamide) to detect anerobic bacteria presence. This is usually not done in regular practices. As halitosis or bad breatb is easily detected.
