I had 4 to undergo extraction for 4 teeth for orthodontic treatment. Bur during extraction, extraction for one tooth (bottom left) was highly painfully. The dentist said it happened because my tooth was tilted. But it was not tilted as I could see it. Could it be because he did not put the anesthesia properly?

Hi Lybrate user, sometimes what we see outside thats the crown part of your teeth is straight but inside root part might be tilted ,so your dentist might be correct, he must have given you proper explanation ,Please go to your dentist and let your dentist decide the cause of pain, don't google each and everything. Hello lybrate-user, extraction is painful only if the area is not anesthesised properly. In few cases if there is infection in tissues surrounding your teeth then local anaesthesia may not work. But removing intact premolars during orthodontic treatment I usually painless, if local anesthesia is given properly. In case of lower teeth, most common method to check proper anaesthesis is numbness or tingling sensation of your lower lip and half of tongue on the side of the concerned teeth. Hope this helps.

It may be the reason.. and the tooth extraction technique may not be right..

Dear lybrate-user, You may feel extreme pressure while removal of a lower premolar in case the tooth is even mildly tilted leading to the root of the tooth to be very close to the nerve canal located in that area of the jaw.
